Brief Bio for John-Luke:
EARLY MUSICAL INFLUENCES were from his Mother and older brothers and they range from Classical Music to Hew-Haw, Prog-Rock to Bluegrass. John-Luke's favorite songwriters include Beethoven, Hank Williams, David Gilmore, Robert Weir and Jerry Foster.
Significant early life events include moving and living in five different States in his first 10 years; at the age of 12 loosing his oldest brother (his first guitar teacher) to a car accident; and dropping out of College to join the Army in 1983. "The best decision I ever made."
John-Luke began playing out at open mics in the early 1990's before joining The Freedom Hill Band and boot-scooting across the Midwest. He next set his guitar down and bought a bass to play behind Cary James, who, together with drummer Bryan Vaughn (RIP), formed The Edible Wild playing all original "Alternative" folk-rock. JL played leads on his acoustic mariachi-style bass with a Wah-wah pedal.
Next, JL bought an electric 1968 Gibson EB-3 and formed The Jonathanhouse, another power-pop trio playing all original music. After the turn of the last century, John-Luke went solo and never looked back choosing to focus on his songwriting and voice. (pictured right).
John-Luke moved to south-central Colorado in 2011 and built homes until retiring in 2021. Now living on 11 acres in the San Juan Mountains with Sasha, a Colorado Mountain Dog, and his cat, Blondie, they enjoy off-grid living surrounded by Nature.
In September of 2025, John-Luke traveled to Nashville to record two songs with Nicky V and Nashville Tracking Studio: Proud to be An American and The Answer. JL continues to write songs, record and work with musicians and studios in The San Luis Valley and Salida, Colorado.
